Hitchiner People Care

Through robust personal engagement and financial support of government, civic, and charitable organizations, Hitchiner and its employees promote the welfare of global society and the communities in which they live and work.

At home, Hitchiner people volunteer locally as firefighters, town selectmen and committee members, youth organization mentors and coaches, environmental advocates, faith leaders and contributors and with many service, humanitarian, cultural, and philanthropic organizations.

On the job, Hitchiner people are leaders and contributors to many professional organizations such as the American Foundry Society, Investment Casting Institute, American Society for Metals, SAE International, and more.

Hitchiner supports a wide range of community-based and arts organizations, including the Souhegan Valley Boys & Girls Club, Child & Family Services of New Hampshire, and Rotary Clubs, among others. Contributions to the arts include the Currier Museum of Art (Manchester, NH), Monadnock Music Festival, and opera programs.

Hitchiner® also invests in tomorrow’s achievers today with over 20 college scholarships.

Sustainability

Conservation and preservation efforts have also been a hallmark of the Company’s commitment to community. The 194-acre Hitchiner Town Forest, donated by the Company to the Town of Milford, NH, is a highly valued New England wild space. In addition to trails for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing, the forest, “provides prime habitat for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, red and gray squirrels, ruffed grouse, weasels, mink, fisher cats, snowshoe rabbit, red fox and porcupine. The variety of forest types and age classes provides a multitude of habitat and ‘edge,’ or interface, between two types of ecosystems.” (Town of Milford, NH Conservation Plan)

Hitchiner’s 100-plus year-old, 70-acre Savage Farm in Milford, NH, preserved by easement for agricultural purposes, is considered a key resource within the active agriculture component of the Town of Milford, NH Conservation Plan.
